Music creates the first and longest-lasting impression for any story, so it's important that any music you use be a reflection of the story you want to tell. But your story is more important than our music; if the music distracts from the story, it serves no purpose. At the heart of Michael Aaron Cook’s work as a music producer is the belief that storytelling is everything. “Storytelling is how we communicate as human beings,” he says, “and when we consider that music is the universal language, the ability to tell a story through music becomes absolutely paramount.”
Specializing in music for visual media, Michael Aaron Cook brings together a wide range of modern and classical musical elements to engage fans of diverse genres. Heavily influenced by the new age sound of Mannheim Steamroller’s iconic Fresh Aire albums, Cook marries the energy and edge of Trans-Siberian Orchestra with the intricate but memorable musical storytelling of cinematic legends like John Williams and John Powell. Utilizing a range of diverse melodic and textural material, his music walks the line between intentional artistic communication and commercial appeal while spanning the spectrum from the upbeat energy of Fall Out Boy to the gravitas of Nightwish.
In addition to his work in the media, Cook is an accomplished composer and arranger for wind ensemble and chamber ensemble literature, a tribute to his work as a military musician. As a member of the United States Marine Corps Band, he has had his works played in concert halls across the United States. His lifelong devotion to musical storytelling has led him to study at renowned institutions such as Full Sail University and the Los Angeles Film School, and he continually derives inspiration from his life as a husband and father.
